Ovingham Bridge Traffic Lights?
I have been asked by some residents to campaign for traffic lights to be installed regulating the traffic over Ovingham bridge and eliminating the guess work when crossing the bridge.
Personally I am not sure what I think about this. In the last two years I can think of only a single incident I have seen when people have not followed the unwritten rules and ended up face to face with another road user in the middle of the bridge. Of course that's only personally and doesn't mean it isn't a daily occurrence. I also remember way back in the 1990s there was some discussion about traffic lights/ management across the bridge but the train line complicated matters. Perhaps a problem that the more modern technology of today could deal with?
At this stage I am not advocating or campaigning for traffic lights or any other traffic management across Ovingham Bridge but I am interested in hearing residents views.
Are traffic lights something people want?
Does anyone have any alternative suggestions?
Is the current situation OK and best left alone?
