Wise before
I had my Bible 20 years before I read it. However, 6 years ago I read it for the first time. I had just truly believed in Jesus Christ: that He is the Son of God Who died for my sins and was resurrected and is returning soon to establish His Kingdom on the earth.
Because the Son of God died for our sins and was resurrected, everyone who is in their grave will be resurrected and stand before Him in the judgement. I imagine that this either means everything to us or nothing at all.
Certainly on the day of judgement, standing before His throne, it will mean everything to everyone. But the judgement will be set for each soul, and nothing will change the decree. So while there is breath in our body, the Word of God compels: “today is the day of salvation; now is the acceptable time.”
For me, for most of my life, the gospel meant nothing though I grew up attending church. If the gospel was preached (I do not recall if it was), I probably did not have ears to hear or a heart to understand; a heart that truly desired the Lord.
My desire, my focus, was on the temporal things of a fallen world that is at enmity with God. Therefore every facet of my being was utterly sinful for only in Jesus is their righteousness and truth and redemption by which we are reconciled to God by faith.
It was only the grace of God that kept me from dying in the multitude of my sin in which there would be no hope, no covering, only judgment and eternal damnation.
John 14:6
Jesus saith unto him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by Me.”
By the grace of God, at the age of 42, I repented, put my faith in Jesus and was baptized and the Lord truly gave me a new heart that lives for Him and hungers for His righteousness and the things of His eternal Kingdom; He gave me His Spirit.
John 3:3
Jesus answered and said unto him, “Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
Over the past 6 years the Lord has been patiently growing me in the knowledge of Him, in the things of His Kingdom, showing Himself ever Faithful, ever True… a Love like no other.
God is no respecter of persons. He will do the same for anyone who comes to Him. So Jesus bids us to Come to Him.
Oh how I wish that everyone truly knew Him.

When I read the Bible for the first time, many chapters/passages blew me away. Just wanted to share several of them (maybe 40 minutes of careful reading)
Job 28 | Psalm 1 | Psalm 19 | Psalm 22 | Proverbs 8 | Isaiah 40:12-17 | Isaiah 53 | Isaiah 55 | John 1:1-14 | John 3:1-21 | John 14 | Ephesians 1 | Colossians 1
Romans 16:27
To God only wise, be glory through Jesus Christ for ever. Amen.

Practical honor
One of the many reasons we can believe the Bible is that it doesn’t sugarcoat the flaws and faults of its heroes.

1 John 3:1-2
“The Father has loved us so much! This shows how much he loved us: We are called children of God. And we really are his children. But the people in the world don’t understand that we are God’s children, because they have not known him. Dear friends, now we are children of God. We have not yet been shown what we will be in the future. But we know that when Christ comes again, we will be like him. We will see him just as he is.”
Philippians 3:18-21
“There are many who live like enemies of the cross of Christ. I have often told you about them. And it makes me cry to tell you about them now. The way they live is leading them to destruction. They have replaced God with their own desires. They do shameful things, and they are proud of what they do. They think only about earthly things. But the government that rules us is in heaven. We are waiting for our Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, to come from there. He will change our humble bodies and make them like his own glorious body. Christ can do this by his power, with which he is able to rule everything.”
1 Corinthians 15:51-52, 54-55
“But listen, I tell you this secret: We will not all die, but we will all be changed. It will only take the time of a second. We will be changed as quickly as an eye blinks. This will happen when the last trumpet blows. The trumpet will blow and those who have died will be raised to live forever. And we will all be changed. So this body that ruins will clothe itself with that which never ruins. And this body that dies will clothe itself with that which never dies. When this happens, the Scriptures will be made true: “Death is swallowed in victory.” Isaiah 25:8 “O death, where is your victory? Where is your power to hurt?” Hosea 13:14”
2 Corinthians 5:1-5
“We know that our body—the tent we live in here on earth—will be destroyed. But when that happens, God will have a home for us to live in. It will not be the kind of home people build here. It will be a home in heaven that will continue forever. But now we are tired of this body. We want God to give us our heavenly home. It will clothe us and we will not be naked. While we live in this tent, we have burdens and so we complain. I don’t mean that we want to remove this tent, but we want to be clothed with our heavenly home. Then this body that dies will be covered with life. This is what God himself made us for. And he has given us the Spirit as the first payment to guarantee the life to come.”
