Affordable hiding
The TN state legislature is wrapping up for the year. They had many opportunities to address the affordable housing crisis. And protect renters from predatory landlords. Instead, they’ve done virtually NOTHING. Join other renters around Tennessee to fight for what we need. Our state representatives and senators will only listen when we take our housing crisis to their doorstep. Join our call on Wednesday, April 23rd at 6pm CDT / 7pm EDT. Registration link:

Curious what our state government could have done? Here’s a list of bills that have FAILED, were WITHDRAWN, STUCK in a committee, or REMOVED:
Affordable Housing and Tenant Protection Act (would allow local governments to control how much landlords can increase rents; increase funding for affordable housing, and more) - STUCK
Rental Property Registry & Multi-Dwelling Registry (2 separate bills). Would stop landlords from hiding behind LLCs so that tenants would actually know who owns their property. Especially important when tenants need to address hazardous conditions & maintenance problems - 1 FAILED, 1 REMOVED
Homes not Hedge funds Act: would prevent certain businesses from buying 100+ single-family homes in some counties. This would reduce price-gouging & runaway gentrification - FAILED
