Diabetes Breakthrough: New Treatment Eliminates Insulin therapy for 86% of Patients.
A new treatment for type 2 diabetes, combining ReCET and semaglutide, has been shown to eliminate insulin therapy for 86% of participants in a study. The innovative approach, which involves deep sedation and a two-week isocaloric liquid diet, has been found to be safe and well-tolerated.
The study, which included 14 participants aged 28 to 75 years, found that at the 6- and 12-month follow-up, all patients no longer required insulin therapy. The maximum dose of semaglutide was well-tolerated by 93% of participants.
The study's lead author, Dr. Celine Busch, said that ReCET is a safe and feasible procedure that, when combined with semaglutide, can effectively eliminate the need for insulin therapy. Further randomized controlled trials are planned to further validate these findings.
