🎓 Vanderbilt University's acceptance rate for the Class of 2029 has dropped to a record low of 4.7%, making it one of the most exclusive universities in the United States. Vanderbilt was once seen as a top-tier “target” or “match” for high-achieving students, but its declining acceptance rate now puts it firmly in the ultra-selective “reach” category.
During the 2024-2025 cycle, Vanderbilt, Wesleyan, Pomona College, Northwestern, and NYU received their highest number of applications ever. This reflects a larger national trend of students applying to more schools than in the past. By extending its test-optional policy until Fall 2027, Vanderbilt has made it easier for students who may not have strong standardized test scores to apply, thereby increasing the overall number of applicants. However, because the number of available spots remains limited, acceptance rates have decreased.
