Affordable greenhouse
New England environmentalists successfully opposed a natural gas pipeline in 2016. Since then, the region has increasingly relied upon polluting fuel oil. "In the meantime, fuel oil remains a significant component of New England’s energy mix, especially during winter cold snaps when the supply of natural gas is just not sufficient to meet heating demands. Despite being a reliable energy source that can help overcome weather-related challenges, oil is the second-most polluting fuel after coal, producing about 30 percent more greenhouse gas emissions than natural gas. Burning fuel oil also emits harmful particles and pollutants, which worsen air quality and negatively affect public health."
