Natural memorial
This Earth Day, we’re reflecting on how far funeral service has come. 🌎
When Ramsey Creek Preserve opened in 1998, it became the first natural burial ground in the United States — nearly 20 years after the first Earth Day.
At the time, it was a bold and unfamiliar idea: no embalming, no concrete vaults, no metal caskets. Just a body returned gently to the earth.
Today, that idea is no longer radical — it’s growing.
Families are asking more questions. Funeral professionals are offering more answers. And the idea that remembrance can also be regenerative? It’s taking root.
We’re proud to be part of this movement — and to help more families explore greener ways to say goodbye.
