Calle de Las Setas, affectionately known as
"Mushroom Street," is a whimsical pedestrian
thoroughfare located in the heart of Alicante,
Spain. Officially named Calle San Francisco,
this street underwent a vibrant transformation
in 2013 to revitalize the area and attract
visitors. Artist Sergio Martínez designed and
installed large, colorful mushroom sculptures,
along with playful elements like snails and
insects, creating a fairy-tale atmosphere. The
initiative, costing approximately €66,000
successfully rejuvenated the street, turning it
into a popular destination for both tourists and
locals
Today, Mushroom Street is not only a visual
delight but also a bustling hub featuring quirky
cafés, tapas bars, ice cream parlors, and
boutique shops. Its proximity to Plaza Gabriel
Miró makes it an easily accessible and
charming spot to explore.
