Now, after witnessing the success of this overlap on the local club circuit, he’s crafted his latest track with an eye for blurring genre lines even further, teaming up with pop-country rapper Anella. Drawing inspiration from disco and the trending sounds of stutter house, “Move” marries the most prominent elements of modern house music and modern country, with chopped-up synths, groovy chord stabs, and Anella’s melodic twang laid over a properly bouncing bassline. “Playing as a DJ in Nashvillle, I’m constantly challenged to find records that can provide a country feel, but fit within a dance / electronic set, ” Garrett said in a statement. “I made ‘Move’ with the intention of fitting somewhere in that blur of boundaries.” Answering Garrett’s call to that end was Trinity, North Carolina’s Anella, who has jumped to the front of the rap-country pack with his viral singles, signing with Def Jam in 2022 and earning a feature on Diplo’s country project.
