The Maundy Thursday Service will be the first service back in the newly restored Roser Memorial Chapel! Everyone is invited to celebrate this historic occasion--7:00 PM April 17 at 512 Pine Avenue on Anna Maria Island! The Roser Memorial Chapel was the dream of John Roser, one of Anna Maria Island’s early land development partners. While staying at the Roser family cottage on Pine Avenue (now Sato Realty), the elder Mr. Roser dreamed of building a chapel to commemorate the life of his late wife, Caroline—a place of worship, prayer, and Christian learning open to all people of Anna Maria Island, residents and visitors alike. In 1913, Anna Maria land developer, Charles Roser, funded the construction of a chapel in memory of his parents, John and Caroline Roser. On October 10, 2024 the Roser Memorial Chapel was significantly damaged due to flooding from hurricane Milton. The floorboards were lifted up and the electrical system that ran under the floor was destroyed. The step to the stage, original wainscoting and the beautiful front doors had to be removed and the organ was lost. Bill Marini and other Roser Church volunteers and staff have been working tirelessly to restore the Roser facilities. They want to thank Mark Gill and Axelle Builders (axellebuilders.com) for taking on the Roser Memorial Chapel restoration project. Roser is so grateful to the carpenter, Johan Harding, who put his heart and soul along with experience and skill into the project to restore the original look with better materials and flood resistant measures. The building has been rewired, with the electrical system now behind the thicker individual boards of the wainscotting rather than under the floor. Once the floorboards dried out, they were laid back in place and refinished, but now there is thick foam under the floor that will prevent water from coming up through the floor again. The step going up to the stage has been repaired and the big doors have been sanded and refinished and will have new hardware installed. MAUNDY THURSDAY SERVICE, April 17 at 7:00 PM in the Roser Memorial Chapel. Communion will be served. The congregation will sing from the Hymn Books...Hallelujah! What a Savior, Search Me, O God and In the Garden. The Cantata Choir will sing Love’s Great Price and the Meditation by Pastor Dirk is titled, What Has Jesus Given Us? GOOD FRIDAY, April 18 at NOON in the Roser Memorial Chapel The cross will be draped in black in contrast to the soft colors of the light streaming through the stained glass windows. The congregation will sing from the Hymn Books... O Sacred Head, Now Wounded and What Wondrous Love Is This. The Cantata Choir will sing For Love Alone and the Meditation by Pastor Dirk is titled, Couldn’t You Men Keep Watch With Me…? The service will be streamed on the Roser YouTube channel or available to watch later. A Foot Washing Ceremony will be held following the Good Friday Service in the Fellowship Hall. Bring your camera to get a photo of your family in front of the cross. Two Easter Celebrations at Roser… 8:30 AM in the Roser Church Sanctuary The Roser Ringers Handbell Choir will play Jesus Christ Is Risen Today to open the service. The congregation will sing Christ the Lord Is Risen Today, Rejoice the Lord Is King and Chain Breaker. The Cantata Choir will sing Resurrection Joy. Pastor Dirk's sermon title: Do Not Be Afraid! The service will be streamed on the Roser YouTube channel or available to watch later. 10:00 AM This casual event will be held outdoors in the Sanctuary parking lot. We will sing hymns and the Roser Youth Performing Arts Choir will sing Savior, King! Pastor Dirk will invite the children and youth to participate in the telling of the Easter story and they will each receive a gift. The message by Pastor Dirk--Do Not Be Afraid! This family focused service will be followed by an Easter Egg hunt! Please bring your own lawn chairs. Park in the Thrift Shop or Fellowship Hall parking areas.
