My exhibition: Living Colour: The Ocean's Palette, is now into its second week already! I wanted to show you in detail some of the paintings on display.
The exhibition invites viewers into the vibrant ecosystems of coral reefs and rock pools, teeming with motion, texture, and striking colour. Beneath the ocean’s surface lies a world of astonishing colour- a living breathing palette shaped by light, movement and time.
Through a series of vibrant, richly pigmented paintings, each work captures the ocean’s extraordinary biodiversity and the beauty of marine creatures. From the iridescent patterns of a tiny blue ringed octopus to the delicate intricacy of soft corals swaying in the current, these colours are drawn from life itself, echoing the extraordinary chromatic language of the sea.
Yet beneath the beauty lies a deeper truth: this world of living colour is fragile. Warming waters, coral bleaching, and human impact are threatening the very brilliance that defines these underwater habitats, and these living ecosystems are vanishing. The works in this exhibition are not only visual celebrations, but a tribute to the ecosystems that are disappearing before our eyes.
Open Wednesday to Saturday, 10am to 2 pm at the Rocque Paper Scissors shop in Gorey.
