FREE EVENT! Come join us at COhatch Duluth for an event focused on understanding the importance of your liver's health and the rise of non-alcoholic liver disease. Learn about the impact of nutrition on your liver, how mental health can be affected with a liver disease diagnosis, and increase your education of non-alcholic liver disease. This in-person event will feature expert speakers and plenty of opportunities to ask questions, as well as networking and light refreshments. More than 100 million Americans have fatty liver disease, which is a growing health epidemic deeply rooted in diet/nutrition and directly tied to insulin resistance and metabolic syndrome. We are determined to raise more awareness and provide more education to help people take control of their health and sift through all the noise and misinformation surrounding diet and nutrition. Expert Speakers (Panel Discussion): Dr. Scott Isaacs, MD, FACP, FACE Dr. Scott Isaacs is a board-certified endocrinologist in Atlanta, Georgia. He is Adjunct Assistant Professor of Medicine at Emory University and President of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinology (AACE). His practice focuses on diabetes, obesity medicine, steatotic liver disease, cardiometabolic disease, and general endocrinology. Dr. Isaacs attended medical school at Emory University and continued for residency and fellowship in endocrinology. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Obesity Medicine and the American College of Physicians. He is a two-time past president of the Georgia Chapter of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists and is a past president of the Atlanta Chapter of the American Diabetes Association. He is the co-chair of the AACE NAFLD Clinical Practice Guidelines cosponsored by the AASLD and an author of the AACE Diabetes Algorithm. Dr. Isaacs has given more than 500 lectures, grand rounds and CME programs and serves on planning committees and for national meetings. He has published research in peer-reviewed journals, and has authored patient education materials, several best-selling books and has an active following on social media. He has appeared in the New York Times, CBS News, Wall Street Journal, and NPR. Destiny Davis, MS, LPC, CRC Destiny Davis is a Licensed Professional Counselor specializing in supporting individuals and families impacted by invisible illnesses and disabilities. With advanced training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Somatic Experiencing (SE), she empowers clients to manage chronic pain, reconnect mind and body, and cultivate joy in their relationships. As a former family liaison, Destiny brings a unique perspective to her work, helping clients build strong communication skills, establish healthy boundaries, and foster a supportive community. She is passionate about utilizing evidence-based and holistic practices to equip clients with the tools they need to thrive. Destiny is also the host of The Chronic Illness Therapist Podcast. Susan Horava Susan is a certified health coach, patient advocate, speaker, and liver patient who has harnessed her personal experience into a passionate mission to advocate for liver health. As Director of Ambassador Engagement and Lifestyle Management for Liver Education Advocates, she shares her expertise and unwavering dedication to empower others in optimizing their liver wellness and to increase awareness about the importance of liver care.
