Be the Change You Want to See in the World, A Coach Reflection! In a world filled with uncertainty, injustice, and overwhelm, it’s easy to feel powerless. Our human biology pulls us into fight, flight, or freeze, often leading us to blame others or wait for someone else to fix what feels broken. But in coaching, we hold a different truth: You have agency. You get to choose how you show up. Instead of asking “Who will fix this?”, a more transformative question is: “How might I lead differently in the face of this?” “Be the change you want to see in the world” isn’t just a quote—it’s a call to embodiment. It’s about aligning your inner landscape (values, beliefs, and purpose) with your external actions. Leadership begins with the self. I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve heard: "I pay taxes, someone else should fix it." Yet we live in a democratic society where change begins with individuals who choose to care and act. Think of Gandhi, Mandela, Pope John Paul II. They didn’t wait. They became the change, through conviction, courage, and service. As a coach, I’m privileged to witness transformation up close. It rarely starts big. It starts with one insight, one choice, one courageous act. Kindness, Self-reflection, Difficult conversations, Advocacy, Alliances. These are powerful expressions of leadership. So, what about you? What’s one way you can be the change today? Let’s stop waiting. Let’s lead from where we are.
