Personalized feel
Food isn't your only option for comfort. 💕
Most clients who come to me for weight loss and emotional eating use food as a way to self-soothe when emotions get overwhelming.
Self-care and self-soothing are BOTH crucial skills, but they serve different purposes:
Self-SOOTHING: what you do to calm down AFTER you're upset
Self-CARE: what you do preventatively to AVOID getting upset
Next time you feel the urge to reach for comfort food, try these self-soothing techniques instead:
1️⃣ Take a 20-minute pause (science shows this is how long your body needs to physically calm down!)
2️⃣ Practice mindful breathing while scanning your body for tension—start with your brow, jaw, and shoulders
3️⃣ Visualize your happy place or engage in a calming activity that brings peace
The key is to practice these techniques when you're calm so they're ready when you need them most.
