Healthcare Workforce Omnibus Signed into Law!
Yesterday, I was invited to Raleigh to watch Governor Stein sign the Healthcare Workforce Omnibus bill into law. The omnibus bill was a combination of ten different bills from the House and the Senate. This law means that more people will get quicker access to the care they need in North Carolina. The law will have a broad impact on health care in North Carolina and ultimately help drive down costs, provide access to care, and put more trained professionals into the workforce.
Part I: Interstate Medical Licensure Compact (S.B. 336/H.B. 67)
Part II: International Physician Licensure (S.B. 336)
Part III: Master's Level Psychologist Reform (S.B. 171)
Part IV: Physician Assistant Licensure Compact (S.B. 190)
Part V: Pharmacist Test/Treat for Flu (S.B. 335)
Part VI: Physician Assistant Team-Based Practice (S.B. 345)
Part VII: Pharmacists Collaborative Practice (S.B. 357)
Part VIII: Alleviate Dangers of Surgical Smoke (H.B. 390)
Part IX: Community College Behavorial Health Workforce Enhancement (H.B. 562)
Part X: Marriage and Family Therapy Licensure Reforms (H.B. 727)
Great, collaborative work by both the House and Senate healthcare committees to get this done.
