The Dutch Professor of Happiness, Ruut Veenhoven (82) leaves us with some profound lessons about Happiness:
Although happiness has increased overall, working women often face a double burden: balancing careers and taking care of the family.
Happiness follows a U-curve:
• Young parenthood is often the least happy phase due to high demands.
• After age 50, happiness increases: careers, children, and mortgages become less dominant, and life experience grows.
• Aging and illness impact happiness less than we might think.
And that happiness is a judgment about life as a whole (life satisfaction), which is distinct from your daily mood.
Happiness thrives at work too!
