Order of the Volta Having my big Sister (Barbara), younger Brother (Bernard), Cousin (Yaw) and his wife Mary there today was special. My elderly mother could not make it but I was reminded by My Sister that I picked a more special award for my late father from the then President Kufuor! Kotoko, Football, May 9, Rugby, Sports in Ghana - An award for all. I was the recipient but my heart & mind was with all who have been on this journey with me these past 25 years! I was the only Awardee of our "Order of the Volta" from the sporting fraternity. I mentioned in thanking His Excellency our respect and gratitude ,as Rugby Africa, for building a purpose built Rugby Park and for hosting the Rugby Africa Ladies 7s. I was particularly thankful for His allowing us to increase the tournament from 8 to 12 teams thereby allowing Ivory Coast, Senegal, Burkina Faso and Mauritius to participate too. I indicated that this award was for all stakeholders who have come on this journey (25 years) and not just for me! I am thankful to you all and believe You should be proud of yourselves. The Order of the Volta is one of the most Prestigious cross-party National Awards in Ghana and I picked the Award on all your behalf! I wish you all a Happy New Year and pray that all can come together to help reset sports in Ghana. If we can work together in the same direction the future holds a lot of promise!
