Fresh become
When you're dealing with fresh church hurt, it's easy to go into self-preservation mode, become calloused and mistrusting, and draw back from organized religion altogether. Especially when church hurt has become a pattern. It's easy to just stay home.
But that is precisely the Elijah mindset against which Paul warns us. The fact of the matter is, no matter how bleak the condition of the churches seems, God has a remnant of sheep, often scattered. And how can you fully bless the sheep when you just stay home? You can't.
Let's not lose heart, beloved. Get out there and seek God's sheep. They need you and you need them.
"Do you not know what the Scripture says in the passage about Elijah, how he pleads with God against Israel? 'Lord, they have killed Your prophets, they have torn down Your altars, and I alone am left, and they are seeking my life.' But what is the divine response to him? 'I have kept for Myself seven thousand men who have not bowed the knee to Baal.' In the same way then, there has also come to be at the present time a remnant according to God’s gracious choice."
