🔵 “🔵 “Your kid understands English — but do they use it?” Let’s change that this summer. Hi! I’m Alex — a native New Yorker, parent, and English teacher with over 10 years of experience, now living in Kibbutz Gezer (between Ramle and Modiin). Like many of you, I’m raising bilingual kids in Israel. And I’ve learned from experience — just understanding English isn’t enough. If our kids don’t use it, it fades. My eldest son (going into 4th grade) has always understood English — but until about two years ago, he would only speak back to me and my family overseas (who don’t speak Hebrew) in Hebrew. It wasn’t until he spent a week at a baseball camp in the U.S. that things shifted. Suddenly, he had to speak English — and it clicked.
