Flynn’s world blurred as voices reached him through the haze of pain. “…haemorrhaging… surgery… immediately!” A sharp, commanding voice cut through. Could it be Becky? Impossible. Yet there she was—furious, fearless, and somehow in charge. “I’m a fully qualified surgeon,” she snapped at a nervous orderly. “This man has shrapnel wounds, and he is not going to die on my watch!” Flynn forced his eyes open. It was Becky—her blonde hair pinned under a surgeon’s cap, freckles stark against her pale face. She turned, her sharp tone softening as her eyes met his. “Hello, there,” she said, brushing his hair back from his forehead. Flynn’s chest felt crushed under the weight of his injuries, his uniform soaked with blood. Becky gripped his hand fiercely. “You are going to be all right,” she said. “I’m going to stop the bleeding, and you’re going to be fine.” A rubber mask descended over his face, the world sliding to black. But Flynn had one thought above all: Becky, scared for him. Becky, fighting to save his life. When he gasped, “Tell Mr. Holmes…” she cut him off. “Don’t you dare make final speeches! You can tell him yourself.”

🇺🇸It’s Flag Day, and today, we honor the Stars and Stripes—the enduring symbol of our nation’s values, history, and resilience. If you’ve ever noticed the American flag patch on our uniforms, you may have wondered why it’s reversed on the right sleeve. It’s not a mistake—it’s a tribute. The flag appears to fly in the breeze as we move forward, symbolizing courage, duty, and our unwavering commitment to serve. EMS professionals wear the American flag not just as part of the uniform, but as a reminder of our commitment to serve with honor, integrity, and pride. Whether responding to emergencies at home or standing side by side with other first responders, we carry the flag with us as a symbol of unity and service. Wishing everyone a safe and meaningful Flag Day! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) teams across Sudan have treated mass influxes of war-wounded patients as the conflict continues with little respect shown for civilian life. MSF doctors and staff are working hard to deliver what medical care they can even as bombing and airstrikes hit near the hospitals they work in. “Suddenly, while we were doing our routine work, we heard a bomb. The first bomb was when everything became chaotic. People, caretakers and caregivers were running everywhere, trying to find shelter and a safe place. We heard the bomb near the hospital. We saw it! … Nevertheless, we kept working,” said one MSF doctor at Nyala teaching hospital. Give now and support critical medical support in Sudan and over 70 countries around the world >>
