perseverance
As a 70-year-old cancer warrior from Malaysia, Mr. Yap has faced numerous challenges in his courageous battle against cancer. Diagnosed with rectal carcinoma in 2021, his journey began with chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and surgery to remove the tumor in August. Despite these efforts, he experienced complications, including an overdose of oral chemotherapy, and endured frequent hospitalizations until early 2022.
In the same year, Mr. Yap underwent surgery to remove one kidney, only to be diagnosed with right renal cell carcinoma in early 2023. His resilience was further tested in June 2024 when a PET scan revealed a hypermetabolic metastatic nodule in the lower lobe of his left lung, consistent with a colonic origin.
Amid these challenges, Mr. Yap began ECCT therapy while waiting for his hospital appointments. During this time, he also underwent five sessions of radiation. Five months later, a follow-up PET/CT scan brought encouraging news: the lung metastases had reduced in size, and no new major lesions were detected. With the lesion shrinking significantly, no further hospital treatment was required, and Mr. Yap continued ECCT therapy to maintain control over potential recurrence.
While his journey is ongoing, Mr. Yap’s unwavering determination and positive spirit inspire all who hear his story. We remain committed to monitoring his health and addressing any concerns while expressing gratitude for his trust in ECCT. His remarkable journey is a testament to the power of hope and perseverance to never give up, offering motivation to other cancer warriors: never give up and always stay positive.
