Authentic whom
Upon Hearing Thunder
سُبْحَانَ الَّذِيْ يُسَبِّحُ الرَّعْدُ بِحَمْدِهِ ، وَالْمَلَائِكَةُ مِنْ خِيْفَتِهِ
Subḥāna-lladhī yusabbiḥur-raʿdu bi-ḥamdih, wa-l-malā’ikatu min khīfatih.
How Perfect is the One whom the thunder exalts with praise of Him, as do the angels in awe of Him.
When ʿAbdullah b. al-Zubayr (raḍiy Allāhu ʿanhu) would hear thunder, he would stop talking and he would say [the above]. He would then say: “This is a severe warning for the people on earth.” (al-Adab al-Mufrad 723, Muwaṭṭa’ 3641)
