Recycling the Same Old Players: From PDP to APC, Now ADA or Whatever Next? Once again, Nigerians are being treated to a familiar political drama. The very individuals who formed the All Progressives Congress (APC) to oust President Goodluck Jonathan in 2015 have now regrouped — this time under a new name, the All Democratic Alliance (ADA) or whatever they decide to call it — in yet another bid to unseat the APC-led government under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. But make no mistake: this isn’t a step forward. It’s not about reform or the people. It’s a calculated act of self-preservation by the same political elite who have held Nigeria in a chokehold for decades. They shift camps not out of principle, but to protect their interests — and only their interests. Let’s be honest with ourselves: What did we gain when we moved from PDP to APC? We were promised “Change.” What we got was worsening insecurity, deepening economic hardship, record-high unemployment, a weakened naira, failing infrastructure, and mass hunger. The promised change turned out to be a change of names, not of values. Now, the same people who demonized the PDP and painted themselves as saviors through APC are at it again — this time as ADA. But this is no fresh movement. It’s the same script, the same cast, only a different costume. We must ask hard questions: Where is the ideological difference between PDP, APC, and ADA? What real transformation have any of them delivered to the common man? How long will we allow political chameleons to keep swapping jerseys and deceiving the electorate? If we continue recycling the same politicians under new banners, expecting a different outcome, then we are complicit in our own stagnation. It’s time to break this vicious cycle. Nigeria doesn’t just need a new political party — we need a new political culture. One grounded in integrity, vision, and a genuine commitment to national development. We don’t need a rerun of the same tired play. We need a revolution of conscience.
