Established Asset Management company is seeking a Controller (with Tax Expertise) Location: Manhattan, NY on site (Monday-Friday) About the Role: A privately held asset management company, is seeking an experienced Controller with a strong tax background and MRI Software experience. This role will oversee accounting operations, tax compliance, financial reporting, and system administration for a diverse portfolio of entities and properties. Key Responsibilities: Manage tax workpapers and coordinate with external accountants for over 300 Federal & State returns (individuals, LLCs, partnerships, corporations, trusts, and foundations). Prepare tax payments and assist with tax planning, gain/loss calculations, and LLC formations/dissolutions. Oversee certiorari cases and real estate tax escalations. Handle federal, state, and city tax notices. Administer MRI Software — including entity setups, monthly/yearly closings, and reporting. Review financial statements, property management reports, and ensure loan covenant compliance. Manage payroll filings, sales tax returns, 1099s, and non-resident withholdings. Support energy procurement and 401(k) reporting. Qualifications: Bachelor’s in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred). 8+ years of accounting/tax experience, ideally within real estate or asset management. Strong knowledge of tax regulations for various entity types. MRI Software experience required. Exceptional attention to detail and multi-entity reporting experience.
