Strengthening St. Paul,: Productive Council Engagement Last night, I met with Mayor Maureen Miller, Deputy Mayor Norm Noel, and Councillors Ron Boisvert, Brad Eamon, Sid Sood, Nathan Taylor, and Gary Ward for a focused and meaningful discussion on the priorities that matter most to the people of St. Paul. We covered a wide range of local concerns — from health care and housing to safety and infrastructure — and I want to commend Council for how strongly and effectively they advocate for their community. They come to the table informed, united, and solution-focused, with a clear understanding of the real-life impact of the decisions we make. Key topics we addressed: The Need for a New Senior Lodge: Council stressed the urgent need for a new supportive living lodge in St. Paul. While Sunnyside Manor has served the community well, it’s clear that a modern facility is now required to meet growing demand. I’ll be advocating for this project with the Minister of Seniors, Community and Social Services. St. Paul Hospital & CT Scanner: We welcomed the completed emergency room renovations — a much-needed improvement for front-line care. However, the reality remains that St. Paul Hospital, built in 1926, is now the oldest in Alberta. Council highlighted the importance of planning for future upgrades to ensure long-term sustainability. The community-led CT scanner campaign has seen remarkable progress, with over $200,000 raised by the St. Paul & District Hospital Foundation. This equipment will significantly improve access to diagnostic services and support physician recruitment. I remain committed to advocating for provincial support to help bring this vital project across the finish line. Highway 36 & 29 – St. Brides Intersection: The intersection at Highway 36 and Highway 29 near St. Brides continues to be a serious safety concern. Council shared past incidents and called for urgent improvements. I’ve committed to bringing this to Alberta Transportation and requesting a formal safety review. Healthcare Workforce Retention: We also discussed the need to support and retain the skilled healthcare professionals serving the St. Paul region. Council offered practical ideas — including rural incentives, housing options, and community integration — which I will raise directly with the Minister of Health. What stood out most is how proactive and unified this Council is. They don’t just identify challenges — they come prepared with thoughtful, practical solutions. It’s a model of leadership that puts community first. I’m proud to work alongside the Town of St. Paul and will continue ensuring their concerns are heard at the provincial level. #StPaulAB #MLAUpdate #RuralLeadership #SeniorsCare #NewLodge #Healthcare #CTScanner #EmergencyRoom #HighwaySafety #HealthCareHeroes #WorkingTogether #StrongerTogether

HONOURED TO SERVE, PROUD TO BELONG Yesterday was a powerful reminder of what it means to serve and to belong. I had the privilege of joining the UCZ Katuba Congregation in Cholokelo Ward as Guest of Honour during their fundraising event. It was more than just an invitation but a celebration of unity, faith, and shared purpose. The warmth, generosity, and spiritual strength of the congregation reminded me that the body of Christ is truly one, bound together by love and service. Later in the day, our journey continued with engaging town hall meetings in Chunga Ward. These conversations were deep rooted in community priorities and development aspirations that are essential as we shape a people-centered roadmap for progress. Listening to the voices on the ground is how we build a future that reflects who we are and what we truly need. As a proud son of Katuba, I remain deeply committed to amplifying local voices and championing development that leaves no one behind. Nkusu kubantu. Development is for the people. Let’s keep building together.
