🚨 Warning: Slippery Black Rocks Hazard 🚨
Black rocks along the coast of Esperance, Western Australia, pose serious dangers. Visitors are strongly advised to avoid them due to:
🌊 Slippery Surfaces: Black algae that is unique to the south coast and covers the rocks is grippy when dry but turns extremely slippery when wet, like ice.
🌊 Sudden Waves: Large waves can appear without warning, washing over the area.
🌊 Drowning Risks: Many drownings involve those who are unaware of the dangers.
🌊 Other Dangers: Rock fishing, taking selfies, and wearing inappropriate footwear increase risks.
Safety Tips:
❌ Never turn your back to the ocean.
⭕️ If washed off the rocks, stay calm and swim away from them.
⭕️ If caught in a rip, stay calm, raise an arm for help, and float with the current until it releases you.
If you see someone walking on the black rocks, say something – you might save their life.
