On December 30, the Government of Canada announced that it intends to extend the 2024 charitable donation deadline from December 31, 2024 to February 28, 2025 due to a four-week Canada Post mail stoppage. Legislation will be introduced on January 27, 2025, to formalize this change. Donations made to Delta Hospital and Community Health Foundation by December 31, 2024, will qualify for a 2024 tax receipt, and it is likely that donations made between January 1, 2025, and February 28, 2025, will also qualify, pending legislative approval.
