Blue Cheese Burger
You know what they say - the third time's the charm!
Let's head over to the Blue Star Diner, Trinidad at their new location in Movie Towne, Port-of-Spain!
So, this place has had a pretty troubled past, having closed its doors not once, but twice at their original location in Maraval. However, there is just something special about this place, I can tell. The allure of eating in a 50's style American Diner setting and posing for pictures next to their trademark Cadillac is a lost art in the restaurant business, in my opinion. This place has vibe in spades, and it's clear why it has a cult following.
Fun fact, I was there on both of their closing down days, even having had the honour of having their very last burger. And now that they're back, it's time to see if they've recaptured that magic that made me fall in love with the place.
I ordered the classic Chomper Burger (Medium Well, $100), the Berries n Creme French Toast ($69) and the "My Nieces are Driving me Reese's" Peanut Butter Milkshake ($65.) I know I'm on a diet, but today, I'm eating like a king!
The Chomper was nicely done, having a satisfying chew to the meat. It was a well done restaurant style burger, and I wish I could eat ten of these. Burgers always tend to be my go to at these places, and this paired with the fries? Heaven.
The Berries n Creme French Toast was pretty good too, served in a nice berry sauce with strawberries and blueberries. It got a little mushier the longer it stayed seeped in the sauce, but all dat in it, since I was dividing and conquering this meal. It was nice and sweet, a pretty satisfying dessert that actually complemented my burger as I went between both.
As for the milkshake - I REALLY miss the "This Malt is your Chocking Fault" but this one is WORTHY. Yuh cyah mess up a Reese's themed milkshake. It is creamy decadence that I will fight you in the street over if yuh disrespect it.
As I ate, the atmosphere really appealed to me, like being in a Johnny Rocket's restaurant, down to having classic jukebox tunes piped in. God, I wish I could be here forever. Hell, I'd eat the whole table if my belly had room. I also experienced some wonderful service there, the staff genuinely moved as if they were happy to see me.
Blue Star Diner, I had a blast, and I highly encourage everyone to check them out. Now, the place may be a bit tricky to find doe to the front having a very unassuming entrance (shucks, you might think it's closed) so I put a photo of it next to Tommy's Brewing Company by the fountain so you can find it easier.
So, dear Foodventurers, as always, check out the safari pictures below. And remember to KEEP ON SNACKING - RESPONSIBLY!
The Chomper: 5/5
Berries n Creme French Toast: 4.5/5
