Shepherded Through the Storm
In Psalm 77, the psalmist expresses deep distress, calling out to God in turmoil. Initially feeling abandoned, he remembers God's unwavering faithfulness, finding comfort and renewed trust in His mighty deeds.
We often feel overwhelmed by life’s challenges, questioning if God hears us. Yet, like the psalmist, we must intentionally reflect on His goodness, trusting that He works for our benefit. Psalm 77:14 asserts, “You are the God who does wonders; You have declared Your strength among the people.”
Psalm 78 recounts Israel’s history, highlighting God’s steadfast faithfulness despite their rebellion. It is a powerful reminder for us to teach future generations about His mighty works, helping them remain anchored in faith.
Just as Israel forgot God's miracles, we can lose sight of His grace in difficult times. Nevertheless, God’s mercy guides us like a shepherd. As Psalm 78:72 states, “So he shepherded them according to the integrity of his heart and guided them by the skilfulness of his hands.”
By remembering God's works and obeying His commandments, we can walk in His blessings and pass on His truth to future generations.
Amen.
