Practical pipe
Mr & Mrs Forshaw, Golbourne.
A long but narrow room in a three storey townhouse which has us scratching our heads for a bit. Two doors leading into the room, no windows, an inaccessible soil pipe, a stairwell and two different levels of ceiling to deal with once inside the bathroom.
The original room had a bath - but the customer wanted away with that and a large showering space.
In the end, we moved the door 2 metres further down the wall - allowing a large shower cubicle with a niche. We managed to conceal the soil pipe in a stud wall behind the shower, allowing for a concealed cistern and WC - again saving space.
The stairwell was utilised by building shelves for towel storage - turning a dead areas of the bathroom into something practical.
The customer wanted a traditional look, which was provided by Burlington, with brushed gold fittings. A beautiful job, designed by Dan in the showroom and installed, with Biblical levels of patience, by Tom Kenyon.
