Extraordinary cool
The sunshine’s out, the breeze is warm—you can feel summer in the air 🌈☀
And that means Books on Bank St is back! Join us on Monday, June 23rd at 5:30 pm for an evening of salt air and Cape Cod stories with author Jim Coogan.
Maybe you are familiar with Jim Coogan's work? Perhaps you have picked up one of his nine books? Or used to read his columns in the Cape Cod Times, or enjoy his current column in the Sandwich Enterprise? Jim Coogan has been collecting stories about "The Narrow Land" over the course of a lifetime. And the thing about his writing is, his books gently remind us that the story of Cape Cod is not just one of place, but of people. His books remind us it is the people who know and love and live on Cape Cod who make it special.
So come for the stories of shipwrecks, and lighthouses, sea captains, and strange events. These stories fill our hearts with drama and adventure and a sense that life is often extraordinary. But stay for the tales of little known historical figures, unsung characters, and oddballs. Stories that celebrate our humanity, and offer a variety of experiences. And sometimes stories that remind us that the inhabitants of this peninsula have often been all too human, and subject to the same foibles and prejudices of people everywhere. These stories expand our understanding and imaginings of Cape Cod history, and highlight an obvious truth: Cape Cod history is still being made, even today, by us. That's pretty cool, isn't it?
Light refreshments will be served, and a meet and greet and book signing will follow the talk. Let's make history while celebrating the 100-year history of our little library 😉
