As the new year has started I am now accepting applications for AKC CGC classes! What is CGC? Canine good citizen is a certification program that evaluates a dog's good manners and teaches responsible dog ownership. There is 10 items that are worked on and tested to assess the dogs behavior in a simulated everyday situations. The test includes: * Accepting a friendly stranger * Sitting politely for petting * Behavior during grooming * Going out for a walk * Walking through a crowd * “Sit,” “down” and “stay” * Coming when called * Reacting to distraction * Supervised separation Who can participate? The program is open to all dogs, including purebred and mixed breeds, that are over 6 months old and current on vaccinations. This will be a 6 week program with weekly classes. Benefits Dogs that pass the test are proven to handle certain situations and receive a certificate from the AKC. The CGC program also helps dogs improve basic skills like leash walking, sitting, down, and stay Interested?
