Thank you to OCNJ Daily for covering our recent community meeting, where OceanCity2050 introduced an alternative vision for the former Wonderland site - the Wonderland Commons.
Instead of an unpopular high-rise hotel that would require dramatic changes to the boardwalk zoning and embroil the city in costly litigation, we’re offering a community-centered compromise that preserves our boardwalk’s character and puts Ocean City residents first.
Why are we proposing this? Because Mr. Mita owns the land — but he doesn’t own the zoning. He can build anything the current zoning allows: retail, amusements, arcades. Not a high-rise hotel. Zoning exists to protect Ocean City’s residents, which is why the OC Chamber of Commerce conditioned their support on community engagement and consensus. This is our attempt to engage and start to find a path forward that works for everyone.
Let’s get this right — and build what’s right for Ocean City. A high-rise isn’t it.

Hong Kong’s rural villages are essential to our heritage, embodying the harmonious relationship between humanity and nature while reflecting the city’s evolution. Village Chief Wan Wah Chung of Yung Shue Au expresses, “We hope the restoration of 'Heung Heung Mansion' will inspire villagers to return. We are profoundly grateful to Chinachem Group for their support and for sharing their invaluable experience from the Lai Chi Wo Story Room project. With the collaboration of Wu Zhi Qiao and students from both Hong Kong and mainland China, we are increasingly confident that Heung Heung Mansion will emerge as a vibrant community hub and a cornerstone for village revitalisation.”
“Are the villagers really insular?” In response to this stereotype, the residents of Yung Shue Au unanimously reply that they welcome hikers and the public to visit the village. They hope to raise awareness of rural values and foster an environment of urban-rural integration. The restoration is anticipated to be completed in the first quarter of next year, inviting all to witness this remarkable collaborative effort. Follow our page to stay updated on our progress!
