Political alignment in the Middle East

This post is extremely subjective, there are groups/countries anti-Iran, but not necessarily pro-Israel, which is sometimes confusing to categorize

Dialogue Dynamics
New Speaker Announcement |
The Admiral Evangelos Apostolakis joins the Nisyros Dialogues 2025
We are honored to welcome Admiral Evangelos Apostolakis — former Chief of the Hellenic National Defence General Staff, former Minister of National Defence, and current Independent Member of Parliament — to the 2025 edition of the «Nisyros Dialogues».
At a time when geopolitical instability and armed conflicts are reshaping the wider Middle East, the presence of Admiral Apostolakis, with his deep operational and political expertise in security and crisis management, adds critical perspective to our discussions.
The «Nisyros Dialogues» continue to go beyond identifying the problems: we decode the dynamics holistically and explore strategies and actions to the complex challenges of the Eastern Mediterranean.
📅 July 3–6 | Nisyros, Greece

Exciting force
🌍🇺🇸 Exciting Event Alert: "USA invasion of Greenland? : EU Perspective"
📅 Date: March 20nd 🕒 Time: After 17:00 📍 Location: Ungdomdemokratihuset,
Dear friends and fellow enthusiasts of European affairs,
Join us for an engaging exploration into an unconventional yet intriguing topic: the United States' interest in Greenland., we are thrilled to welcome Professor Ole Wæver , our own Scandinavian Noam Chomsky, to share his insights on this matter.
Here's what we'll dive into:
1. Could the United States realistically force Denmark to sell Greenland?
2. Impact on NATO stability: What are the potential consequences?
3. The EU's stance and its implications.
4. How might this affect Germany's international relationships?
The event promises not only a thought-provoking presentation but also an interactive Q&A session where you can pose your questions directly to Professor Ole.
Your presence would enrich the discussion, so mark your calendars and spread the word!
Looking forward to welcoming you!
Best regards,EYI
P.S. Special thanks to Europa-Nævnet
for their generous support in making this event possible!

Dynamic past
Would you say that large-scale sanctions would be a firmly worded wake-up call that changes the dynamic? Some fixate on those peace talks and how they will look and what it will be like at that event by thinking of past successful events. Maybe they should be held in Sweden in this particular time. The Helsinki Final Act in 1975 was a conference agreement that was absolutely monumental, being remembered in history far beyond the life time of any member of government of that time. It was sometimes thought to have paved the way to really clearing up the Cold War for good. The USA and the (then) USSR closed the deal on a solid agreement that cleared the air of some of the policy issues of the time.
The peace talks could be held in a neutral 3rd party location which is near the conflict but isn't directly involved per se, such as the Czech Republic. Some now consider that Russia Ukraine peace talks arranged by the USA and the EU should be Belarus. What do you think? I fear that the peace talks will drag on for too long and will be about making sure everybody says what they want to say. What's your strategy? Where do you think talks should be held? How can I help you make money? Where is a good conversation spot? How do you personally make those decisions? How do you solve faith matters? It would seem like at a minimum the peace talks should feature the 2 combatants and the US/EU as a 3rd party. An unfair peace agreement can also be remembered in a bad way

Complete professional
Reflecting on the proposed framework for the Judicial Selection Committee currently under debate in the Knesset, IDI’s Dr. Amir Fuchs explains that the proposal would eliminate the supermajority currently required for appointing Supreme Court Justices and institute a mutual veto power for coalition and opposition members on the committee.
While supporters claim this method would lead to ideological diversity in appointments to the courts, Fuchs argues that this system would unnecessarily politicize the process and lead to justices chosen based on partisan leanings, “a 'deal' based solely on political considerations – without transparency regarding possible backroom promises in exchange for judicial appointments – is still a political deal.”
With professional considerations sidelined in favor of political ones, the result would be a polarized and less professional judiciary.

Rich sinful
"The social contract that imposed certain civic responsibilities on the rich emerged after the Black Death decimated nearly half the population of medieval Europe. The dominant Christian theology of the Middle Ages held that wealth was inherently sinful in a world where most people toiled in terrible poverty. But as the continent recovered from the plague, a new, pragmatic arrangement emerged. The surviving wealthy would be expected to use their wealth to provide public goods. This echoed the norms of antiquity; the historian Paul Veyne has noted that in ancient Rome, for example, the belief was widespread that any defects in civic life directly reflected on the virtues of the city’s elite," writes Brian Klaas.

annihilate
Quote by Garry Kasparov. This statement reflects a deep concern about the nature of modern propaganda. The idea is that propaganda isn’t just about spreading misinformation or promoting a specific agenda. Instead, it’s about overwhelming people with so much information—true, false, or somewhere in between—that it becomes difficult to discern what’s real and what’s not. This constant bombardment can lead to mental exhaustion, making it harder for individuals to engage in critical thinking and, ultimately, to distinguish truth from falsehood. The end goal is to create a state of confusion where the very concept of truth is undermined, leading people to either accept lies as truth or to become so cynical that they stop believing in anything at all. This tactic can be seen in various forms of media and communication today, where the sheer volume of conflicting information can make it challenging to maintain a clear and accurate understanding of reality. #government #2024 #propaganda #politics #control
