Valuable episode
I recently spoke with the incredible Suia Westbrook, a powerhouse running not one, not two, but three businesses;
💜 Force Femme
💜 CoastLab - CoWorking Space
💜 Her own event production company
All while dealing with mental health issues.
Suia's story highlighted that success isn't about agreeing to everything, but rather knowing when to decline.
In this episode, she opens up about how trying to please everyone and financial stress almost pushed her to the brink:
▫️ Growing up in a religious setting, she learned that love came with conditions, which led to unhealthy work habits to gain approval
▫️ As a business owner without property assets, she faced intense pressure to make her ventures successful without a safety net
▫️ Her mental health declined so severely that she began to question her own existence, which served as a wake-up call
▫️ She found her way to recovery through therapy, medication, and learning to set boundaries
▫️ She realised that increasing her income allows her to help more people - an idea that initially seemed strange to her
▫️ Her partner's candid feedback - "you do everything for everyone else but not for us" - was tough to hear but necessary
The most valuable lesson?
Mental health isn't a one-time fix. It's ongoing work, like maintaining a relationship with yourself.
This episode is a powerful reminder that taking care of your mental health isn’t a luxury; it’s the foundation for everything else. Get ready for some honest insights that might just be the permission slip you needed to put yourself first.
