Women cannot sleep, suffer constant eye pain, and experience a rapid deterioration of their psychological and emotional state. 🔴 Acoustic violence: Every day, starting at 6 a.m. and for several hours, loudspeakers blast extremely high-volume noise throughout the barracks. For Iryna, who suffers from chronic inflammation of the auditory system, this inflicts unrelenting physical torment. 🔴 Physical exhaustion: Previously, Danylovych reported being subjected to hours of standing outside in the rain or cold as a form of punishment. #Torture destroys lives. #Rehabilitation rebuilds them. As we honour the resilience and inspiration of #torture survivors around the world this #26June, the stories of Keiry Movilla Salazar, Giovanny García Garrido, Andrés Juan Guerrero Rubiano, and Juan Pablo Fonseca Roa bear witness to the power of #HumanRights and those who work to achieve them. All four young Colombian protesters were shot in their eyes and left blinded in a deliberate campaign of #PoliceBrutality perpetrated for years under the former government. All four had life projects that were shattered in an instant. They met each other, and many other young people with the same life-changing injuries, at IRCT's member centre in Bogota, the Psychosocial Care Center (CAPS) (👉 https://www.caps.org.co/ ) led by the brilliant Angela Ospina Rincón. Under the care of psychologists and social workers at CAPS, Keiry, Giovanny, Andrés and Juan Pablo rediscovered their strength and purpose, establishing a social movement, MOCAO, that is succeeding in its campaign to end #PoliceBrutality in #Colombia and to bring #healing and #justice to all victims of #torture and other ill-treatment. As Keiry puts it, from #torture came 'resistance, love, and struggle': "I would tell people who have suffered eye injuries, that this is a rebirth. That life has given us an opportunity to keep fighting, to keep showing why we are here today." It's a message of hope and light that feels essential in today's dark and tumultuous world. The current publication by the National commission for human rights- Pakistan have revealed unprecedent increase in blasphemy cases due to its misuse and fragile social cum judicial structure which contribute to this dilemma. One can safely project if the it remain unchecked, sooner then later it will appear with more drastic impact the range from economics to relation with external world to the right to life in Pakistan. within the duration of only six month 292 cases have been filed in 2024 which targets the individual and minorities disproportionately. the victim is not only facing delay but the significant procedural violation start from police station to court room, prison and access to justice. this is very obvious from the recent case of Dr. Shahnawaz who has been gun down by the police personal. Such cases is no less then trauma and fear and threat to people voicing for improvement in these laws either through amending it as per need of time of changing the procedure for it.
