NJ Natural Lands Trust (NJNLT), a member of the Alliance for Watershed Education (AWE), is seeking to hire a Fellow from Camden, or the surrounding area, to help connect with local community members around protecting the Delaware River and its waterways. The Delaware River Watershed Fellowship is a 12 week, paid summer job opportunity designed to introduce young people from local communities to careers in environmental education. What is a bioblitz? Citizen scientists (that’s you, we promise!) come together to identify as many species as they can in one place. The Sequoia Park Zoo hosts a free annual bioblitz in Sequoia Park to monitor the species present in the park and how those might change over time. Beginners are welcome! On April 27, 2025, we will meet at the Sequoia Park Zoo at 8:15am to learn how the iNaturalist app works. At 9:15am, an orientation to the bioblitz begins on the Redwood Sky Walk and will move into Sequoia Park before the zoo opens. It gives me great pleasure to return to my hometown, Sale Creek, Tennessee, to give my presentation "Coexisting with the American Black Bear." When I was a growing up, we did not have Black Bears in East Tennessee with the exception of Gatlinburg. Now, they are returning to where they rightfully belong in and around Walden's Ridge and the Cumberland Plateau!
