Mining the seabed in the Arctic sounds crazy, but it’s exactly what the Norwegian government is planning to do.⁣ ⁣ The Arctic is warming 3-4 times faster than the rest of the world and now its core - the deep sea - is about to be exploited for the mining of minerals.⁣ ⁣ Mining the seabed, especially near hydrothermal vents, could cause irreversible damage and disrupt the entire ecosystem. The noise from the machines could also threaten dolphins and whales that live in the proposed mining area 😭🐬⁣ ⁣ It’s a crucial time to make some noise against these plans. Groundbreaking report exposes ocean floor-destroying bottom trawlers. “Citing privacy laws, DFO does not give out much information about the trawl fleets, including where they are fishing. Which to us seems like a pretty big problem. Because industrial fishing affects all Canadians that rely on coastal resources, we think that this information should be more public.” Sydney Dixon, Pacific Wild It looks like mission accomplished, as after years of research, Pacific Wild has released its in-depth Dragged to Death report exposing exactly how much damage BC's biggest trawling offenders have done to our coast. Warning: the picture ain’t pretty with these repeat offenders. The repeat offenders are nine major trawlers, characterized by their size and onboard factory systems, including processing lines and large freezers. The thing is, what they are currently doing on our coast is simply repeating a pattern they have carried out in waters around the world. A pattern that leaves destruction in its wake. The pattern? Show up in places like the UK, the Norwegian Sea, Greenland, and the Bering Sea and trawl fish species like cod, halibut, and herring into oblivion before sailing off to find more fertile fishing grounds to pillage. No consequences, no concern for the community fisheries left behind to deal with the collapsed fish stocks and closures. Just scrape the ocean floor, rake in the cash, and move on - wash, rinse, and repeat. And can you guess where the majority of these large trawlers are currently wreaking havoc? That’s right - here in our waters. And there is absolutely no indication that the pattern will be any different. In fact, Pacific Wild’s research shows that over the past 13 years, these 9 trawlers have trawled 89,700 km² of BC’s coast, causing significant habitat damage and scooping up intended and unintended catch at unsustainable rates. 📌 في قلب دلتا النيل، حيث الزراعة والصيد والحرف اليدوية ليست مجرد مهن، بل امتداد للحياة اليومية، تكشف دراسة ميدانية حديثة واقعًا شديد الوضوح وشديد التهميش في آنٍ واحد، نساء يتحملن العبء الأكبر لتغير المناخ دون أن يُنظر إليهن كجزء من الحل، أو حتى كأولوية في التخطيط والسياسات. ▪ عادة ما يُختزل تغير المناخ في أرقام الانبعاثات أو خرائط الطقس، لكن الحقيقة التي تؤكدها الدراسة أن المناخ، في هذه المجتمعات، يُقاس بقدرة النساء على الحفاظ على الدخل، تأمين الغذاء، حماية الأطفال، والحفاظ على الصحة النفسية والجسدية في مواجهة التقلبات الحادة في الطقس والحياة، وسط موارد محدودة، وخطط لا تراعي الفروق الجندرية. 📌 الدراسة التي تنطلق منها هذه الحملة، بعنوان: "تغير المناخ وأثره على النوع الاجتماعي من وجهة نظر الرجال والنساء، وعلاقته بجودة الحياة في محافظات الدلتا المصرية" أُجريت في ست محافظات (الإسكندرية، البحيرة، القليوبية، كفر الشيخ، دمياط، بورسعيد) واستعرضت قصصًا حية، وشهادات ميدانية، تكشف عن معاناة صامتة، وعن فجوات واضحة بين السياسات الوطنية واحتياجات النساء في المجتمعات الأكثر هشاشة. ▪ اعتمدت الدراسة على مقاربة متعددة الأبعاد، جمعت بين الواقع البيئي والاجتماعي والاقتصادي والنوعي، وركّزت على تجارب المجتمع المحلي بدلًا من الاكتفاء بالبيانات الرسمية. وسعت إلى قياس مدى فهم السكان لتغير المناخ، ومصادر معرفتهم به، وكيفية إدراكهم لأثره على سبل عيشهم، مع تركيز خاص على النساء واحتياجاتهن في التكيف مع الواقع المناخي المتغيّر. ▪ تكشف هذه الدراسة والتي سيتم نشرها ضمن فاعليات الحملة عن فجوات معرفية وسياساتية ما زالت قائمة، مثل ضعف فهم الفروق بين النساء والرجال في التأثر بالمناخ، وضعف تنفيذ السياسات الخاصة بإدماج النوع الاجتماعي في العمل المناخي. وتوضح أن هناك فجوة أوسع بين التخطيط المركزي والتنفيذ المحلي، خصوصًا حين تتعارض الخطط الوطنية مع الاحتياجات الفعلية للنساء في الريف والمجتمعات الهشة. ▪ سوف تسلط حملتنا الضوء على أربعة تقاطعات رئيسية في الدراسة تمثل ملامح الأزمة: المناخ والاقتصاد، المناخ والصحة، المناخ والتمييز الجندري، والمناخ والأدوار الاجتماعية. ومن خلال تجارب نسائية حقيقية من الدلتا، وشهادات حول الصحة، والعمل غير المرئي، والضغوط اليومية، يظهر كيف تؤثر التغيرات المناخية بشكل مضاعف على النساء، جسديًا ونفسيًا واقتصاديًا، و تحليل للسياسات الحالية وما تفتقده ▪ وتهدف الحملة التي تطلقها مؤسسة قضايا المرأة المصرية وتستمر علي مدار خمسة أيام الي إبراز صوت النساء كمصدر للمعرفة والتجربة والخبرة المناخية، ومساءلة السياسات المناخية التي تستبعد النساء، أو تكتفي بذكرهن في الهوامش، والدعوة لتمكين النساء فعليًا — لا رمزيًا — في التخطيط والتنفيذ والمساءلة. 📣في هذه الحملة نحاول ترتيب المشهد من جديد، من الهامش إلى العاصفة، ومن الشهادة إلى التأثير في السياسات، ومن الغياب إلى المطالبة بالاعتراف والعدالة. #CFLI #CFIL #CEWLA #عدالة_مناخية #من_الهامش_إلى_القرار #مؤسسة_قضايا_المرأة_المصرية
