With her lecture ‘Uncovering New Worlds through Artificial Intelligence’, our guest Sara Marques, exoplanet researcher and AI specialist from the University of Bern, provides exciting insights into the future of exoplanet research. She shows how modern AI methods are helping to track down previously unknown planets outside our solar system - and possibly even find traces of life. Celebrate Hawaiian kalo at the 17th Annual Mālama Hāloa Kalo Festival & Symposium! This year’s programming spans three days, culminating in a campuswide festival on Sunday, March 2, 2025! The Mālama Hāloa Kalo Festival & Symposium is an opportunity to learn about the cultural significance of kalo, the importance of kalo today, the different varieties and how to take care of them. Every year, the Festival spotlights a specific ʻohana kalo, and this year, we celebrate kalo ʻapuwai. Gather with kalo farmers, artists, cultural practitioners, natural science researchers, and community educators at the culminating festival to share knowledge and celebrate Native Hawaiian kalo varieties. There will be guest speakers, live music, community partners, activity booths, huli giveaways, food tastings, and community conversation. #diplomaziaculturale #DiplomaziadellaCrescita 🇮🇹 🤝 🇪🇹 Il Sottosegretario di Stato agli Affari Esteri e alla Cooperazione Internazionale, Giorgio Silli, ha visitato oggi il compound che ospita l’Istituto di Cultura e la Scuola Statale Italiana di Addis Abeba. 🟩 Durante la sua visita all’#IICAddisAbeba, il Sottosegretario Silli, accompagnato dall’Ambasciatore Agostino Palese, è stato accolto calorosamente dal Direttore dell’Istituto, Semen Kumurzhi, e dai Suoi collaboratori. ⬜️ Il Direttore ha presentato al Sottosegretario le attività linguistico-culturali dell'Istituto e, in particolare, ha mostrato la ricca biblioteca e il moderno Auditorium, che in questi giorni sta ospitando il primo Corso di formazione “Preistoria e Siti archeologici UNESCO” a beneficio di 50 guide turistiche dell’ETGPA – Ethiopian Tourist Guides Professional Association. Si tratta di un progetto didattico full immersion tenuto da un team congiunto di 10 studiosi e docenti universitari (con i quali il Sottosegretario ha voluto interloquire) e organizzato in occasione della recente iscrizione, nella Lista Patrimonio UNESCO, del sito di Melka Kunture, dove opera una missione archeologica italo-spagnola. 🟨 Il Sottosegretario di Stato ha inoltre visitato la mostra d’arte "Così vicino, eppure così lontano" del noto pittore italo-etiope Yared Olivelli e apprezzato una serie di murales, alcuni in realtà aumentata, realizzati dell’#IICAddisAbeba con l’obiettivo di abbellire il compound, conferendogli una moderna impronta artistica italiana. 🟥 La visita del Sottosegretario Giorgio Silli ha valorizzato il proficuo dialogo culturale in corso tra i due Paesi, dando nuovo impulso all’azione di promozione linguistico-culturale dell’Istituto, portata avanti insieme all’Ambasciata e in collaborazione con gli altri attori del Sistema Paese in Etiopia. * * * 🇮🇹 🤝 🇪🇹 The Undersecretary of State for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Giorgio Silli, visited today the compound that houses the Italian Cultural Institute and State School in Addis Ababa. 🟩 During his visit to the #IICAddisAbeba, Undersecretary Silli, accompanied by Ambassador Agostino Palese, was warmly welcomed by the Director of the Institute, Semen Kumurzhi, and his collaborators. ⬜️ The Director introduced the cultural and linguistic activities to the Undersecretary and, in particular, showed the rich library and the modern Auditorium, which these days is hosting the first Training Course “Prehistory & UNESCO Archaeological Sites” for the benefit of 50 tourist guides of the ETGPA – Ethiopian Tourist Guides Professional Association. This is a full immersion educational project held by a joint team of 10 scholars and university professors (with whom the Undersecretary wanted to speak) and organized on the occasion of the recent inscription, on the UNESCO World Heritage List, of the site of Melka Kunture, where an Italian-Spanish archaeological mission operates. 🟨 The Undersecretary of State also visited the art exhibition "So Close, yet So Far" by the famous Italo-Ethiopian painter Yared Olivelli and appreciated a series of murals, some in augmented reality, created by the #IICAddisAbeba with the aim of embellishing the compound, giving it a modern Italian artistic imprint. 🟥 The visit of Undersecretary Giorgio Silli enhanced the fruitful cultural dialogue underway between the two Countries, giving new impetus to the cultural and linguistic promotion of the Institute, carried out together with the Embassy and in collaboration with the other Italian institutions in Ethiopia.
