Dialogue Dynamics
This week, I had the privilege of participating in this year’s #RabatProcess thematic meeting in #Abuja, under the auspices of the Nigeria Chairmanship National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and IDPs
I extend my deepest gratitude to the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) for facilitating my participation and for organizing the Euro – African dialogue on migration and development.
As I reflect on the vibrant discussions, the exchange of knowledge, and the collective commitment I have witnessed over the past two days. It is clear that youths, education, and innovation are not only topics for migration, but they are the central forces shaping the future.
On #Day2, I moderated the session #Beyond Remittances: Engaging Youth Participation for Development.
How can young Diaspora’s move beyond the traditional system of only sending monies home, to being involved in the development of their Home countries; using their skills, knowledge, and network to actively participate in Social, Economic, Political, Academic, cultural and technological development in their countries of Origin.
Our discussions underscored a powerful truth: young people are not only at the heart of migration dynamics but also key drivers of change, resilience, and sustainable development. During the session, we heard compelling evidence and exchanged best practices that demonstrate the transformative potential of empowering youth through inclusive education, digital skills, and innovation ecosystems.
As we leave Abuja, let us take with us the insights gained and the alliances formed. The Rabat Process continues to be a platform for dialogue and cooperation, ensuring that migration governance remains effective, humane, and responsive to the realities of today and tomorrow.
