Resilient department
In the heart of Wellington’s parliamentary precinct, a remarkable new chapter in heritage preservation begins. Te Rua—the Department of Internal Affairs' newest, state-of-the-art archives building—was gifted its name by Taranaki Whānui and blessed on 8 July. Purpose-built to house Aotearoa’s most precious taonga, it blends cultural integrity with cutting-edge resilience and environmental control systems.
Citycare Property is proud to have been awarded the facilities management contract for this iconic space. With expertise honed through years of managing the existing archive buildings, our dedicated team is now delivering 24/7 operational excellence using Twinview—the digital platform being used in Aotearoa for the first time. This co-designed, earthquake-resilient building marks a leap forward in protecting our nation’s heritage—and we’re honoured to be part of the journey.
